  1. Special Report 126, Israel Under Attack(Released Israeli abductees and their families)RafahContrary to expectation, Israel has successfully achievedthe relocation of over 950,000 civilians from Rafah and its environs to safe zones prepared by Israel,in cooperation with Arab countries ad international humanitarian aid organizations, replete with schools, clinics, a field hospital, playgrounds and storesof food.Others are preparing to relocate. In spite of heavy fighting and of Hamas’s persistent use of civilians as human shields, the number of civilians casualties –every one of which is regrettable –is extremely low.The Israel defense Forces (IDF) now control most of the border with Egypt, which has prevented breach of theborder by Gaza civilians, relievingthe major Egyptian concern. Over 700 tunnels have been found, 50 + of which were used for smuggling weapons and military equipment into Gaza, as well as commodities Hamasthen sold for substantial gain. These tunnels provide the terror organizationwith the abilityto replenish and continue fighting. Hamas provides free food and medication, forcibly taken from the humanitarian convoys,to families whose young men enlist to fight for the organization. It withholds such basic aidfrom any who oppose fighting Israel. Hamas is also enlisting 12-14 year-old youth to attack IDF troopswith RPG’s and to lay IED’s. Taking control of humanitarian aid pouring into Gaza and selling it to the general populace (who were to receive the aid for free) Hamas has netted some $500 billion since October 7.Hundreds of Hamas militants have been killed in the course of fighting in Rafah, on which Israeli troops are slowly and steadily encroaching.ElsewhereIn Nusserat, a major UNRWA facility serving Hamas’ resurgence, operating as a command and control center and a weapons depot, was taken over by IDF troops. Scores of tunnels, weapons, launch pads and rockets were destroyed. The IDF and the Shaback –Israel’s equivalent to the FBI –located and brought back for burial in Israel the bodies of four abductees murdered by Hamas, two of which were known to been taken alive.
  2. The floating pier constructed by the US has been connected to the coast and can now directly service 150 trucks. Within a number of weeks it will be able to service about twice that number. The pier is being protected by the IDF.Right wing extremists in Israel have stopped and ransacked trucks carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, insisting no aid should be allowed as long as Israeli abductees are not accorded fundamental human rights such as proper food, water, medical treatment andshelter, and their names are withheld. Extremist politicianItamarBen-Gvir, who oversees the police, has ensured the police abstain from protecting the convoys. Over the protests of prominent Cabinet Ministers, Prime Minster Netanyahu has left him free to do so.Mr. Netanyahu’s management of the war has left much to be desired and has been openly criticized by prominent membersof the war Cabinet, including Yoav Galant, the Minister of Defense. Messrs. Benny Gantz and Issac Eizenkot, twoformer IDF Chiefs of Staff, have threatened to leave the Government unless Mr. Netanyahu changes course. The main complaints have been his hesitation with regard to Rafah, his micro-management of the hostage release negotiations, his indolence regarding Ben-Gvir’s conduct and his unwillingness to allow discussion of plans that would enable a third party to take civil control over Gaza, replacing Hamas.International CourtsSouth Africa asked the International Court of Justice(ICJ) to instruct Israel to cease all hostilities in Gaza. It has not requested the Court to demand Hamas release the abductees it holds in its tunnels, disavow further attack on Israel or cease firing missiles at Israeli towns and villages. In effect, South Africa is asking the International Court of Justice to perpetuate an injustice by forbidding Israel to defend itself against an organization bent of the Jewish State’s destruction, handing Hamas a strategic victory and ensure repeated atrocities against Israeli citizens. Regardless of whatever decision the Court hands down, Israel will continue to defend itself. The Prosecutor for the International Criminal Court (ICC) has committed a moral outrage by calling for international arrest warrants to be issued for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Hamas leader Yihye Sinwar and Hamas military leader Mohammad Def. Mere reference to the four in the same breath boggles the imagination. Accusing Netanyahu and Galant of war crimes is ridiculous –theyand the IDF are far lessguiltyof such crimesthanwere General Eisenhower,Prime Minister Churchillandthe Allied troops. On the other hand, the atrocities of which the Hamasand Messrs. Sinwar and Def areguilty are asgrievous as were those perpetuated by the Nazis and the Japanese Imperial Forces.
