  1. Special Report 112, Israel Under AttackHamas’s reports of casualties(never distinguishing between combatants and non-combatants) is once again proven to be massaged so as to mislead the gullible. Note this simple fact: Although fighting continues unabated, reported deaths in Gaza have remained at 32,000 (rounded figure) for over twoweeks. In other words, while Hamas’ reports Israel successfully avoids killing military aged men and premeditatedly targets women, children and the elderly, for the last ten days or so Israel has miraculously managed to continue its war againstHamas without killing anyone! What is more, while Israel reported the deaths of hundreds of Hamas and Islamic Jihad (IJ) militants, Hamas has somehow managed to resurrect them all, so that there has been no uptick in deaths. One is left wondering whetherwe should be impressed with Israel’s ability to conduct victimless combat operations or with Hamas’ ability to raise the dead.Void of concern for patients or medical staff, and in direct contradiction to the rules of war, Hamas and the IJ used schools, playgrounds, mosques, UNRWA facilities and hospitals for military purposes. Weapons were stored, command posts established, underground terror infrastructure was dug and firing positions set upin all such. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), in pinpoint surgical operationscarried out by elite, carefully trained units, destroyed the underground infrastructure, captured terrorists andremoved all munitions, weaponry and other terror supporting equipment while protecting medical staff and patients. In more instance than one, they foundmilitants dressed in scrubs, masquerading as medical staff. Not a single patient or member of the medical staff was hurt.Upon exit of IDF troops, Hamas and IJ sent theirmen back into the hospitalsto set up command posts and fighting positions, taking cynical advantage of their protected status and of the supplies of water, fuel, food and medication Israel ensured the hospitals would have.A maternity wardbecame a command and control center. An emergency ward became a fortified position. A medical library became a storeroom for munitions. IDF surrounded the hospital without warning, closing off all escape routes, trapping the terrorists inside and blocking reinforcements for them. This time there were no tunnels through which to escape. Medical staff and patients were then relocated by the IDFto alternative maternity, ICU, emergency and internal wards, prepared and fully equippedbeforehand. Protection, supplies, food and water were suppliedto these makeshift wards.IDF troops thenentered the hospital grounds and firefights with the militants broke out.Following two weeks (!) of intensive fighting, Israel evacuated the campus. Some 500Hamas and IJ militants were captured, 400 more are being interrogatedand 200 were killed in the Al-Shifa hospital alone, constituting the largest concentration of terrorists encountered since October 7(two other hospital campuses are likewise now under siege).
  2. The unreasonably large numbers indicate the extent of the militant’s brashness and their indifference to the suffering of the people they are supposed to protect. Again, no patients or medical staff were harmed. The IJ established a command and control center among the tents of Gazan displaced persons in Khan Yunis. Israel successfully destroyed the post without incurring civilian casualties. While unarmed civilians are not and will neverbe targets in IDF’sefforts to eradicate Hamas’ capabilities, not all civilians are truly innocent. The two terrorist organizationscontinue to have the support of the population. In a poll taken by a Palestinian polling organization, 71% support Hamas, 50% want Hamas to regaincontrol of Gaza and 72% support Hamas’ conduct on October 7 and since.Hamas would not have been able to operate without the active support of the civilian population, many of whom were employed by Hamas in the construction of its military infrastructure, its use of protected civilian facilities, mosques and the infiltrationof the welfare and educational systems.Israel made generous offers for the release of abducted women, children, the wounded and the elderly. In response toUS suggestions,it made yet a more generous offer. Hamas, emboldened by the changing tide in world opinion, specifically in the US, rejected Israel’s offers and insistedon acompleteend tohostilities and on Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Stripin exchange for the release of a portion of the abductees. Hamashas no interest ina temporary ceasefirein exchange for the partial release of abductees because it believes Israel will be forced by world opinion toend the war and vacate Gaza without the terrorist organizationhaving to pay any price higher than more deaths of its operatives and of civilians –a price Hamas has always been willing to absorb –whileleaving scores of abductees in its clutches. In preparation for military activity in Rafa, Israel has called upon donor countries and humanitarian organizations operating in Gaza to commence preparations for the relocation of civilians from the area. In a mishap, a number of volunteers with the World Central Kitchen, serving in Gaza, were killed in the course of Israelmilitary activity. Israel has accepted responsibility and expressed its deepest regret.A drone attack by Iranian-backed Iraqi militias managed to damage an Israeli naval hangerin the southern port of Eilat. In response, Israel killed a senior Iranian commander, Mohammad Reza Zahadi, and other Syrian, Hezbollah and Iranian commanders meeting in the Syrian capital of Damascus. A building adjacent to the Iranian Embassy, in which the group met, was completely destroyed. Zahadi was the coordinator between Iran, Syrian forces and Hezbollah. He was also responsible for the foment of terrorist attacks in the West Bank and was sanctioned by the US for his terrorist activity. In three separate attacks, Israel also eliminated three senior Hezbollah commanders. The depth of intelligence infiltration Israel achieved, as evidenced in these attacks, is highly disconcerting to Iranian and Hezbollah leadership.Following Israel’s efforts to eliminate Hamas’ ability to take commandeer humanitarian aid pouring into Gaza, the price of food continues to drop.
