  1. Special Report 110, Israel Under AttackWhy Is There No International Outcry?Schools, food storages, hospitals, homes and civilian infrastructure are being targeted in the Ukraine, yet the world remains silent: There are no demonstrations in the streets. Hundreds of thousands are starving in Africa, yet there are no airlifts, no construction of emergency piers. Tens of thousands of innocent Arminianswere forced out of their homes by invading forces, yetnot a whimper is heard in the corridors of the United Nations. Uncounted numbers of Uighursare incarcerated by a heartless totalitarian government –barely anyone cares.Peace-loving, pro-Palestinian Israelis were brutally pillaged, tortured, raped and killed, their homes set on fire, the babies killed and 423, including bodies, were abducted and taken to Gaza. There was not international public outcry. Israel responded as would any civilized country in defense of its people while exerting efforts beyond all military or reasonable measure to limit the number of Gaza civilian casualties, pouring food, water, medicines and medical equipment into the Strip, yet cities around the world are rocked by the protestations of a smug, self-righteouspublic, harnessed by forces that call for Israel’s destruction “from the river to the sea”. Shame. Shame! To be sure: there are instances in which individual Israeli troops crossedthe moral line. In what war are there not such instances? But Israel has and continues to conduct itself visa viethe civilian population in Gaza with a generosity no other country has shown a hostile population. At the same time, Hamas embedded itself within that population and considers the mounting number of civilian casualties a propaganda advantage. After utilizing UNRWA facilities, schools and warehouses, mosques and hospitals for military purposes and denying it did so, after transforming the Al-Shifa hospitalinto a central command post and a holding-ground for Israeli abductees, Hamaswas carefully evicted from the hospital by Israeli forces, and its underground military infrastructure there was destroyed, while the troops protected patients and staff, and provided food and medications.Hamas and the IJ returned to the hospital as soon as the troops left, recently forcing Israel to return as well. The hospital was surrounded, and special forces were sent in. The hospital had once again, with the connivance of the staff, a Central Military Command Post. Over 90 militants have so far beenkilledin the ensuing battle and 300 captured, among them highlysenior leaders of both Hamas and the IJ. Hundreds of automatic rifles were found, grenades, RPGs, mortars and mortar shells, and a trove of military documents. Many of these were discovered in the hospital’s “Gaza Science Research Library”.
  2. Hamas continues to obstruct the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gazaby taking forcible control of the aid pouring in, distributing and storing it for its own use, then selling the remainder to the population at exorbitant prices, all the while reporting widespread starvation in the Strip.Markets in the sought brim with live commerce and Hamas warehouses overflow. The smattering of civilians still in the north are unable to reach aid because Hamasforbids anything it cannot control. The Release of AbducteesNegotiations for the release of abductees are ongoing. Israel has offered a 42 day pause in the fighting and the release of a disproportionate number of Hamas and Islamic Jihad (IJ) prisoners in exchange for the release of 40 women, elderly and wounded abductees. Hamas, knowing full well that Israel cannot and will not concede to all of its demandshas framed an impossible counter-offer: Israel is to declare an end to the fighting;international guarantees are to begiven, ensuringIsrael will not resume thewar;the complete reconstruction of Gaza will commence, and Israel willrelease about 1,000 prisoners. At this stage it appears that Hamas is not really interestedin a pause in the fighting, nor in the welfare of the people it claims to represent.Israel’s GoalIsrael is notat war with the Palestinian people. Palestinians in the West Bank are not subject to Israel’s reaction to the October 7 atrocities. Nor does Israel target civilians in Gaza. In fact, the number of Israeli Arabs volunteering for military servicein the Israeli Defense Forces has grown considerably in the aftermath of the October 7 atrocitieswhile tens of thousands peaceably celebrate the Ramadan on the temple Mound in Jerusalem. Israel’s sole purpose is to eliminate Hamas’ military and governmental capacities and to see the Palestinians establish in the Gaza Strip a governing body that is not hell-bent on killing Israelis. Israel has therefore refused to allow the return of civilians to the north of Gaza until the area is cleansed of Hamas operatives and a governing body that can fill the gap is established, even if only provisionally. At the same time, in cooperation witha number of Arab countries, it is preparing a safe zoneto which the multitude that fled to Rafahin the south of the Stripcan relocate until the war is over. Hamas forces in Rafah so far remain intact. They must be dismantled before life Gaza can again be brought back to normal.Israeli forces are defending the temporary pier built in northern Gazafor the purpose of importing humanitarian aid and is combatting Hamas’ efforts to loot the aid once it is loaded on trucks. A group of 23 Hamas and IJ commanders met to plan ways to overcome Israel’s efforts, only to face the wrath of Israel’s competent Intelligence Forces. In the Red Sea, the Houthis have stated they will nowattack ships in the Indian Ocean, regardless of whether or not the shipsseek to sail through the Straits of Hurmuz. In the north, the low-level war between Israel and Hezbollahcontinues with Israel’s slow but systematic destruction of military Hezbollah’s infrastructure and Hezbollah’s destruction of civilian homes and farming facilities in response.
